Aer Lingus allows one free personal item for all passengers, such as a laptop bag or handbag, with a size limit of 25 x 33 x 20 cm. Passengers can bring an optional 10 kg cabin bag (48 x 33 x 20 cm) if they purchase Priority Boarding from €5.99 online or travel on eligible fares like Plus, Advantage, AerSpace, or AerClub Silver and above. Adults traveling with an infant receive one 10 kg carry-on in addition to a personal item. Oversized or overweight carry-on bags must be checked for a €35 fee at the airport.

Musical Instruments as Carry-On:

  • Small instruments are accepted within standard cabin bag limits.
  • Medium-sized instruments (up to 75 kg and 94 x 58 x 41 cm) can be carried onboard if an extra window seat is purchased.
  • Larger instruments must be checked with a special handling fee of €40 online or €50 via airport/phone booking.

Important: Sharp objects, firearms, stun devices, and toxic substances are strictly prohibited in carry-on luggage.

  • Near routes: 20 kg – €25, 25 kg – €30, 40 kg (2 bags) – €65
  • Mid routes: 20 kg – €40, 25 kg – €45, 40 kg – €70
  • Far routes: 20 kg – €55, 25 kg – €60, 40 kg – €85

At the airport (if not pre-booked), fees increase:

  • Near: €35
  • Mid: €50
  • Far: €65

Excess baggage costs €10 per extra kilo on European flights and €75 per overweight bag on transatlantic flights.


Sports Equipment & Large Instruments

Sports equipment up to 23 kg can be checked on European flights for €40 online or €50 at the airport. Bicycles require phone booking for €50. On transatlantic flights, one sports item is included in the free allowance, while additional gear costs €75. Business class passengers can carry sports equipment free of charge.

Large musical instruments checked in require a handling fee of €40 online or €50 if booked by phone or at the airport.
