Virgin Australia Carry-On Baggage Allowance
Economy and Economy X
Passengers may choose one of the following carry-on options, with a total maximum weight of 7 kg:
- Option 1: One standard bag (maximum dimensions: 56 x 36 x 23 cm)
- Option 2: Two smaller bags (each maximum 48 x 34 x 23 cm, combined weight not exceeding 7 kg)
- Option 3: One standard bag plus one soft garment bag (maximum size: 114 x 60 x 11 cm), total 7 kg
Passengers are also allowed one personal item, such as a small handbag or laptop bag.
Business Class and Velocity Gold/Platinum Members
Business Class and eligible frequent flyer members have increased flexibility:
- Option 1: One standard bag (56 x 36 x 23 cm, up to 7 kg)
- Option 2: Two smaller bags (each up to 7 kg, max 48 x 34 x 23 cm)
- Option 3: One standard bag and one garment bag (each up to 7 kg)
In addition, one personal item is allowed.
Note: On smaller aircraft, Business Class passengers must follow Economy class carry-on rules.
Infant Baggage Allowance
- An additional 7 kg carry-on bag is permitted for infant essentials such as nappies, food, and baby items.
Overweight or Oversized Carry-On Bags
- If your carry-on bag exceeds the 7 kg weight limit or allowed dimensions, it must be checked in.
- Checked baggage fees will apply.

Domestic Flights
- Economy Class: One checked bag up to 23 kg
